How I Accidentally Experienced the Power of ‘Disappearing’ and Transformed My Life

Nobody knows you the way you do.

Dont listen to anyone.

Everybody’s full of shit.

Nobody knows you or what you are capable of doing. And here’s the reality – the hardest thing in life is figuring out who you’re and what you want to do for the rest of your life. Its a big decision. And once you figure that out, you wake up everyday and you work toward it. Thats what you do.

Its impossible for you to fail, if you know who you are, what you wanna do, and you wake up everyday and work toward it.

Ill share what has worked for me, you can decide for yourself what you wanna do.

Over the last two decades, i have come across many self-proclaimed life guru’s who preach the idea of disappearing for 6 months and transforming yourself or getting ahead of the rest 99% and i totally understand that such advice are questionable and at times you may find it misleading, but this concept works if you work toward it and i have actually accidentally disappeared for months and found myself transformed. Since my first ‘accidental’ disappearance, i have tried it multiple times.

Life has a peculiar way of guiding us towards unexpected encounters that alter the course of our journey. In 2002, i escaped the craziness of Dubai and came home to London for a much-needed break from the demanding events and concerts I was organizing in Dubai, seeking solace and rejuvenation. I left the good life, luxury hotels, bars and restaurants, my friends, video games, partying, everything behind and all i did was reflect, relax, empty my thoughts and figure out a ‘vision’ for the future.

This was a time when there was no smart phones, no social media, no dating apps, no PS5 or Xbox, so it worked out well for me as there was little distraction. For months, I would read books, and educate myself and repeat everything until i mastered it.

This was also a time where i discovered the book “48 Laws of Power” and how it transformed me. Before discovering this book, I was a victim of circumstance, constantly left behind and overshadowed by those less deserving. But this book, oh, how it revolutionized my life in ways I never anticipated. It exposed the raw truth about our world—a truth that is uncomfortable to face but necessary to understand. It revealed the strategies employed by the liars, the cheaters, and the unscrupulous individuals who seemingly always come out on top, while the genuinely good-hearted struggle to survive.

You dont need to physically disappear into the wilderness

First, lets define what ‘disappear’ actually means. Its more about isolating yourself from everyone and everything and just focus on yourself.

Some of you, at times, may feel trapped in a cycle of stagnation, watching as the years pass by without any meaningful progress or change. You may find yourself stuck in routines that offer little fulfillment, spending your weekends in places that leave you feeling empty and dissatisfied. You’re not alone. Many have experienced periods in their lives where they feel stuck, unable to break free from the monotony and mediocrity that seem to define our existence. But there is light at the end of the tunnel.

At first glance, the idea of disappearing for an extended period of time may seem drastic, even absurd. But dig deeper, and you’ll discover that it’s a powerful tool for personal growth and self-improvement. In essence, disappearing for 6 months is about taking a temporary hiatus from your regular life—your job, your routine, your social circle—in order to focus entirely on yourself and your goals. It’s about stepping back from the distractions and obligations of everyday life, and dedicating yourself wholeheartedly to becoming the best version of yourself.

Now, you might be wondering: how exactly does one disappear? What does it entail, and what are the benefits?

First and foremost, disappearing for a while is about creating space for personal growth and transformation. It’s about giving yourself permission to step away from the people, places, and habits that are holding you back, and to focus entirely on your own needs and desires. This might mean taking a leave of absence from your job, temporarily relocating to a new city or country, or simply carving out uninterrupted time in your existing life to dedicate to yourself.

One of the most powerful aspects of disappearing is the opportunity it provides for self-reflection and introspection. When you remove yourself from your everyday environment and routine, you’re able to see your life from a fresh perspective, free from the distractions and noise that often cloud our judgment. This newfound clarity allows you to identify areas of your life that are not serving you, and to make conscious choices about how you want to move forward.

But disappearing for a while isn’t just about self-reflection—it’s also about taking action. It’s about setting goals for yourself and committing to achieving them, no matter what it takes. Whether your goals are personal, professional, or spiritual in nature, disappearing gives you the time and space you need to pursue them with unwavering focus and determination.

How to get ahead of 99% of people in the next 6-12 months

When I disappear for months, I’m not just taking a break. I’m diving into a world of self-improvement. I set goals for myself and work hard to achieve them. It’s not just about saying I’m going to disappear; it’s about using that time to get better in every way I can. Each time i would focus on different goals, where it is mental transformation, educating myself, or physical transformation. I plan this in advance so i have the ultimate focus and not get distracted.

When I disappear, I try to find a place of solace, far away from the craziness of the city. If I am in Abu Dhabi, I will go to my farmhouse in the desert where there is nothing but nature around me: sand, palm trees, animals, plants, and nobody for tens of miles away.

For this post, I’ll be focusing on three main areas:

Physical, Mental, and Financial transformation.

Physical Transformation

  1. Commit to fitness

Keeping healthy and staying fit is a big deal. Fitness isn’t just about bulking up; it affects every part of your life. You don’t need a fancy gym; whether you’re at home or on a farm, you can do running, yoga, pilates, or whatever suits you. Just make sure to stick to a routine that boosts your physique.

  1. Walk 10k steps daily

I absolutely love doing this. When I’m in the desert, I simply take long strolls across the empty landscape. It’s so serene; I can clear my mind, and it’s also a fantastic workout to stay in shape. Plus, it offers holistic benefits. Walking in nature sparks creativity and gives me a break from everyday pressures.

  1. Clean diet

Combining gym workouts, daily walks, and a clean diet will get you the body of a greek god. Stay away from processed foods and focus on whole, nutrient-dense options for optimal gut health and overall well-being. A healthy gut = healthy body.

  1. Take key supplements

Many are deficient in essential nutrients. Consider supplementing with key vitamins and minerals to support overall health, energy levels, and performance.

These are some that i would recommend:

– Magnesium, L-Theanine, Vitamin B6, Vitamin D3, Omega 3, Creatine, Zinc.

But remember, you do not need these if you’re getting enough through diet.

  1. Sleep 8 hours

Not sleeping enough will negatively impact anything you do. Adequate sleep is paramount for physical recovery and cognitive function. Make it a priority to get 7-9 hours of quality sleep nightly to optimize your daily performance. I sleep a good 8 hours every night now. I used to get 4 hours sleep but i stopped that 5 years ago.

  1. Minimize stressors

Anticipatory anxiety happens when you think about a situation that hasn’t occurred yet. In your mind, the event will almost always have a negative outcome, which can then cause great anxiety, stress, or panic. Your imagination magnifies the potential problems you may (or may not) encounter. When you think about it, stressing about something that hasn’t happened yet can impede progress and jeopardize health. Prioritize stress management through adequate sleep, regular exercise, and minimizing sources of stress in your life.

Stress can also contribute to blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and diabetes. So, more sleep and less arguing about things that dont matter.

  1. No blue light before bed

I usually switch to a book an hour before bedtime. I hardly watch TV because I’m busy during the day, and I avoid using my phone in the evening for the same reason. Cutting down on exposure to blue light before bed can enhance sleep quality and overall health. You might want to try reading or wearing blue light-blocking glasses before bedtime for better sleep hygiene.

  1. Eat more protein

I prioritize my health and I’m actively working on areas where I’m not satisfied. Right now, i am aiming to shed 3 stone before summer. Getting enough protein is crucial for muscle growth and overall well-being. If necessary, consider supplementing with high-quality protein sources to meet your daily needs. Incorporate more meat into your diet, or if you’re vegan or vegetarian, consider using supplements to ensure you’re getting enough protein.

  1. Drink a lot of liquid

Did you know that your muscles and kidneys are made up of 79% water, while your brain and heart consist of 73% water? Even your lungs are about 83% water, and your skin contains 64% water. That’s why it’s important to drink plenty of water throughout the day to support optimal physical and mental performance.

Mental Transformation

  1. Meditate more

You don’t have to become a monk or a guru. Just spend 5 minutes each day sitting in silence, organizing your thoughts. Clear your mind and think about nothing. I do this sitting on a sand dune staring at the vast horizon.

  1. Read everyday

I love to read, no matter where i am. I kick off my day by catching up on the news, then I dive into some positive content. It’s like food for the brain. I have a dedicated inbox where I subscribe to uplifting reads on topics I want to learn more about. I focus on books and materials that can enrich my life. I steer clear of Netflix and TikTok; they’re just a waste of time.

  1. Try Ashwagandha

I’ve been using ashwagandha for a while, and it’s been a fantastic stress reliever and has helped boost my testosterone levels. I’ve figured out what my body and mind need, but you might need to try different options to find what works best for you. What works for me might not work for you.

  1. Music makes me focus

Electronic music has always helped me forget distractions and stay focused. Just as calm sleep music helps me drift off, electronic house music helps me concentrate and get into a productive zone. Try listening to instrumental music like synth waves to boost your focus and productivity. Here’s one of my playlists that might help:

  1. I keep a journal

While apps and smartphones are great for taking notes, I prefer keeping a diary and journal to clear my mind. I like the old-school method of using pen and paper. Expressing thoughts and feelings through journaling helps me reflect and process emotions. Make it a habit to write regularly for mental clarity and personal growth.

  1. Get rid of Social Media (or limit it)

I know, letting go of social media can be tough, especially if it’s a big part of your life or work. But try to limit it if you can’t stay away. Unless it serves a productive purpose, think about cutting back on social media. Disconnecting from digital distractions can help improve focus and mental well-being.

Financial Empowerment

  1. Learn high-income skills

I absolutely love learning new things all the time. Over the past three decades, I’ve acquired a wide range of skills, from music production and web design to digital marketing, sales, public speaking, investing, trading, law, negotiating, diplomacy, and even DJ’ing. These skills have proven incredibly useful at various points in my life. I believe they can be leveraged to generate income and offer value to others.

  1. Build your personal brand

25 years ago, I embarked on a journey to establish my personal brand. Over the past quarter-century, I’ve been building my brand through various avenues, including music, events, touring, clothing, merchandise, and on social media platforms. This has attracted opportunities, fans, friends, clients, and business partners. Showcase your skills and expertise to build credibility and attract like-minded individuals.

  1. Offer value

No matter what your skill set is, always offer value to your clients. Don’t follow the herd; be the leader. Create compelling offers that directly meet the needs of your target audience. Concentrate on delivering tangible solutions and results to attract clients and customers.

  1. Network with high-value people

You can’t achieve financial freedom without putting in the effort. Embrace rejection as part of your daily routine. Keep hustling. Send more DMs, write more emails, and connect with people. You’ll be surprised by how many positive responses you’ll get. Focus on building meaningful connections with high-value individuals instead of just aiming for a high follower count. Quality connections can lead to opportunities and collaborations.

  1. Start investing

I wouldn’t advise anyone to invest until they educate themselves. Investments come with risks. When I go to the casino, I’m prepared to lose the money I bring with me. If you have $1000, consider investing just $100 and be ready to accept the possibility of losing it. That’s my approach to investing. Additionally, I only invest money that I’ve earned from my other investments. It feels like I never really had that money in the first place, so losing it wouldn’t hurt at all. Start with small investments and think about diversifying your portfolio with assets like stocks or bonds for long-term financial security. Take some time to study the Vanguard S&P 500 fund and see if it’s something you want to explore. Again, do not invest until you’ve educated yourself.

Final thoughts

In summary, embarking on a six-month transformation journey requires deliberate action across various facets of life. By prioritizing physical health, mental well-being, and financial empowerment, you can lay the foundation for long-term success and fulfillment. Stay committed to the journey, and embrace the process of growth and self-discovery.

Disappearing from everything is a powerful tool for personal growth and self-improvement. Taking a temporary hiatus from your regular life and dedicating yourself to your own needs and goals, you have the opportunity to completely reinvent yourself and create a life that truly reflects your values and aspirations. So if you’re feeling stuck or dissatisfied with your life, I encourage you to consider disappearing for 6 months. It may just be the best decision you ever make.
